AIT Virtual Learning Environment

This course aims to equip students with fundamental knowledge on the design of water supply and wastewater systems for urban area.  Second purpose of the course is to provide the insights and design practices of the wastewater collection and sewer design in urban areas with a mathematical modeling approach and field exercises. 

Course Objective: This course aims at providing state-of-the-art knowledge of fecal sludge management which is an integral part of sustainable sanitation. It compiles the current state of knowledge of this rapidly evolving field and presents an integrated approach that includes technology, management and planning. It addresses the planning and organization of the entire faecal sludge management service chain, from the collection and transport of sludge and its treatment options, to the final end use or disposal of treated products/byproducts. In addition to providing fundamentals and an overview of technologies, the course deals with details of operational, institutional and financial aspects, and provides guidance on how to plan a city-level faecal sludge management plan with the involvement of all the stakeholders.

This course aims at providing a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical applications of environmental health and sanitation with particular concern on the severity and fatality of waterborne diseases. The course aim to equip students with the full understandings of technology and management practices using integrated planning approaches especial for urban poor contexts in developing countries.

This course is to provide knowledge of engineering principals and issues concerning solid waste management from generation, collection, treatment, reuse/recycle and disposal. It aims to equip students with theoretical knowledge and practical applications to comprehend the complexity of the solid waste issues and tools for effective management.
